While removing the bolts, I supported the x-member with a jack so it didn't fall on my head whilst I was in the process of removal.

While trying to remove the x-member, I realized that I needed some side-to-side movement to get the control arm to fall free. I detached the driver's side strut rod - it would have been easier if I detached both sides, but I'm a lazy S.O.B.

A pic of the attached passenger side for reference.

Once the control arm was free, I was able to move the x-member to the passenger side and the control arm just fell out. (I may have gotten lucky, because when I removed the V8 x-member from the '74, I had all KINDS of trouble)
