My good buddy Dave Stahl whipped up a nice custom set of rear spring plates. I requested that they be BIG, so he supplied me with some sturdy 3/8" plate. I asked for the shock mounts to be made seperately, so I could decide whether I wanted to run a staggered shock formation or the stock setup. The only mistake I made in my measurements was in asking for the centering hole to be 1/2" in diameter. I didn't take into account that the 1/2" nut that holds my springs together was actually bigger than 1/2"! So I had to enlarge the centering hole to 5/8".

Once that was done, I figured this would be good practice for my cousin, Lester to do some welding, so after I lined stuff up and tacked it in place, he handled the welding chores.

Then I painted the plates with some aluminized engine paint, it looks pretty "trick", but I haven't totally decided on that color - I might change them to the flat black everything else is.

Installation was simple, everything bolted together as if it were stock. I do have to buy another U-bolt, as I've got one that's longer than the other. Everything's just finger-tight in these pics, I still have to go out and get the aforementioned U-bolt.

Installation of the driver's side.

Full shot:

Again, I have to get the proper length U-bolts, but the rear is pretty much buttoned up now... just have to get some shocks & a new front yoke.
